World series of poker - Starting July 1 2020

The World Series of Poker 2020 has put its annual summer poker festival on hold. They revealed on April 20 that the 51st biggest online poker tournaments series of the year would be delayed due to the public health emergency involving COVID-19 crisis. Finally, on Monday, June 8,  the organizers came up with the news that the whole poker community was hoping to hear. They announced WSOP online, an online poker festival spanning two months. After hosting a Super Circuit Online Series on GGPoker Network, the WSOP has expanded the partnership by declaring an entire range of bracelet events on the network this summer.

WSOP Executive Director Ty Stewart stated, “Official WSOP competitors are expected to be played online this summer...which will allow players to chase WSOP glory from their homes.” A total of 85 gold-bracelet events will be held online. The series will begin from July 1 and continue till early September.

The WSOP bestowed its first official gold bracelet in the event that was held online in 2015. Since then, a total of 18 online bracelets have been awarded. Out of which nine have been won at the 2019 WSOP being the most ever given out in a year. That record is set to be beaten in the year 2020.

In a recent press release, Ty Stewart, said, “It wouldn’t be summer without WSOP. While we are thrilled to be reopening our venues and optimistic about future offline events, we couldn’t be more excited about deepening our relationship with GGPoker and watching some history unfold online this summer.”

What to Expect at the 2020 WSOP Online Series

It is going to be the first-ever online WSOP bracelet series. The WSOP online 2020 will provide players exceptional media coverage, enormous prize winnings, and an opportunity to win golden bracelet glory across two different online gaming platforms, WSOP.com and GGPoker Network. Although more information and guarantees are still awaited, we do know that famous live events such as the Senior’s Event, MonsterStack, and BIG 50 all will be a part of the online show.

The first WSOP online will consist of two stages. The players from Nevada and  New Jersey have the opportunity to battle for the gold bracelet from the comfort of their home. Out of 85 events, 31 are set to be won on WSOP.com throughout July 2020. The bracelet will be awarded each day during the month of July. In addition to this, players can also participate in the $100,000 Online Bracelet Series Leaderboard, where they can earn points to get extra cash prizes. All the events will begin at 3 pm PDT and will feature either in Texas Hold’em and Omaha formats. The remaining 54 events will be held on GGPoker Network. The players from all over the world can join the action.

On GGPoker Network

The schedule for the events to be held on GGPoker Network has not been initially made, but they will commence from July 19 through September 6. The further 54 gold bracelets events are scheduled to be given out. Although we don’t have the list of events, WSOP announced that the online series would represent an immense range of buy-ins and game formats. According to the WSOP, this will be “the first time that players outside the U.S. will be able to compete for an official WSOP bracelet online.”

Talking about his ongoing partnership with WSOP, GGPoker’s Steve Preiss said, “ With over $100M in guarantees during the WSOPC Super Series in May and more than $134M in awarded prizes, it’s clear that GGPoker and the WSOP make a good pair.”
