Sometimes when you’re playing a poker game, you need Lady Luck to be smiling down upon you. Occasionally you get your wish granted and get some great winning poker hands. Sometimes however, the stars align, and you find yourself not just benefiting from winning poker hands, but benefitting from some truly legendary poker hands instead. You can read all the poker rules you like, and you can get as much poker game practice in as you like, but if luck isn’t on your side, whether you play online or at the casino, you simply aren’t going to win. But what are some of the most mythical and legendary poker hands in the world? Well, let’s take a look, shall we? Here are some of the best poker hands you could ever wish for.

A Royal Flush – No, this isn’t the noise that is made when a member of the Royal Family goes to the bathroom. No, a Royal Flush is literally the best of the best when it comes to winning poker hands. A Royal Flush consists of 5 cards, which are a: 10, J, Q, K, A. Did we miss anything? Oh yes, they are all also in the same suit as one another.

A Straight Flush – A Straight Flush is another hand in a poker game that you would be incredibly fortunate to be able to build. Though it is not quite as strong as a Royal Flush, it is still incredibly effective and will give you a great chance of winning if you were able to build it. A Straight Flush consists of 5 cards in a row, all of which are the same suit. So, for example: 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 of spades would be a Straight Flush.

Starting hands

In order for you to stand a chance of building some winning poker hands, not only do you need to familiarize yourself with the poker rules, you also need to get your game off to a strong start. This is where we’ll look at strong starting hands.

Pocket aces – When you’re dealt your first two cards of your starting hand, in a perfect world you’d be dealt two aces. Pocket aces have been a pre-flop winner many a time. Some people call this hand ‘pocket rockets’ and on average, you will receive this hand once out of every 221 dealings. The thing to remember with this hand however, is that as strong as it is, as soon as the flop takes place, your pocket aces could become worthless, so don’t assume you’re unbeatable if you are lucky enough to receive pocket aces.

Pocket kings – Next to pocket aces, pocket kings is the second most effective hand to be dealt before the flop. This hand is sometimes known as ‘cowboys’ and actually there are not many flops that can cause you too many problems if you receive pocket kings. The only card to be wary of if you receive pocket kings is the ace.
