What's that…..playing an online poker game and keep losing? Want to up your game?! You’ve come to the right place.

As with any game, there's a certain learning curve and a couple of rookie mistakes beginners make when they're starting off.

There are however, a couple of basic tips you can follow to improve your poker play.

Know Your Poker Hand Ranking

You need to take time out and understand how different texas holdem poker hands

rank up against one another. You do not want to be caught in a position where you are wondering if your Flush is going to beat that Full house and having to expend valuable decision making time being hung up over that!

Do Not Bluff Too Frequently

Most pro poker players don’t tend to bluff very often, and for a very good reason. It’s better and less risky to play with a strategy and knowing how to play your hand like when to fold or check rather than bluffing your way into a victory. That way, you can practise honing your skills and how to play and win a game with different strong/weak hands.

Know When You Should Fold

Often times, amateur or beginner poker players tend to lose their hand simply because they didn’t fold at the right time. Folding at crucial moments will mean you get to keep your bank roll safe - and also allow you to be more aggressive later.

Try Playing Aggressive

Start your play with a strong hand and avoid making any hard decisions post-flop, sure you’ll be playing less but this way you can be more tactful and corner your opponents when you have a stronger hand. Try betting and raising as much as you can and if you are the 1st player into the pot, you should always raise. Note; you're supposed to do all this only if you have a strong hand. The basic strategy is to have control of the pot, allowing you to win after the flop, as you will have the betting lead.

Take Advantage of Position

Play in latter positions as often as possible when playing hands. This way, you can see what other players are up to and observe how they play, get more value bets, and even get one or two bluffs in if you’re careful. This also allows you to be able to play even somewhat weaker hands pre-flop.

Avoid Playing A Lot of Tables

Often when playing poker online, one mistake many beginners tend to make is playing at many tables at once, in order to make multiple winnings at once. However, with every additional table you end giving - you also divide your attention, making you even more liable to make mistakes! This way, you get to observe and learn how to improve your play by responding to each move with full concentration.

Think About The Other Players’ Hands

What the other players do post-flop could give you an idea about what cards they may have, how they bet or check can let out the strength of their cards. Their position and sizing they are using can also give you a very decent clue. If you think your opponent has a better hand than you, then be sure to fold!
