The 2021 Poker Masters ended excitingly when Australia’s two-time WSOP bracelet winner Michael Addamo won not one but two tourneys in a 12-event lineup back-to-back. The Australian poker pro player won Event #11 in the $50,000 NLH, which was worth $680,000 on Sept. 18. Just a day later, he won Event #12 in the $100,000 NLH for 1,160,000, his career-high live score. The triumphs also gave Michael Addamo the Poker Masters series champion title.

The honour included a coveted 6th Purple Poker Masters Jacket and 50,000 an added prize money. He was the only player in the Poker master series with two big poker championships in a row in a 12-event series. His back-to-back winnings in the two-highest stakes series propelled him to the top of the leaderboard.

Final Day Action

The final day of the series started with Michael Addamo with the chip lead and the remaining 5 players. The poker winner of the final $25,000 buy-in events, Mikita Badziakouski, was a clear short stack. Badziakouski was the first poker player to get defeated with K-10 when he called off his last five or so BB in order to defeat Q-3 of Addamo. Thus, Badziakouski won $203,000 as of the 5th place finisher.

Stanley Tang was the next player to get busted. Tang moved all-in on the button with his K-Q when Addamo raised with J-9 from the cutoff. Addamo, with a pair of 9 on the turn street, knocked out Tang in 4th place with $319,000.

After Tang was defeated, Alex Foxen moved all-in with his remaining eight BB preflop with K-4, and Petrangelo made the call with K-7. Foxen found no help from the community cards on the board and got busted in third place and won $464,000.

Heads up battle

When Foxen was eliminated, the race for his Purple Jacket was over. The final heads-up battle started between Addamo and Petrangelo. Unlike some of the Poker Master’s early final tables, which usually takes a long time to complete, this finale was over in almost 15 minutes. The heads-up play began with Addamo having a chip lead of 4:1. With the chip lead, Addamo took this advantage even further before the final cards were dealt. With 15,000-30,000 blinds and a 30,000 BB ante, Petrangelo with K♣ 8 raised with 70,000 from the button and Addamo with 7 3♣ defended his BB. The community cards on the flop came down 7♣ 2♣ 2. Petrangelo’s 50,000 continuation bet was check-raised to 165,000 by Addamo. Petrangelo’s made the call, and 10 rolled off on the turn. Addamo checked and Nick Petrangelo made a 250,000 bet, which leaves him with around 15 bigs. Addamo made the call, and the river brought a 5♣. This time, Petrangelo moved all in for the remaining 540,000. Addamo paused and then called his pocket 7, thus eliminating Petrangelo in the second place and winning the pot and the title. Petrangelo finished as a runner-up for $754,000.

As per the Hendon Mob, with consecutive winning a total of $1.8 million during the series, Addamo surpassed $10 million in his lifetime tournament winnings. The number ranked 97th All-Time in the world, and 3rd on Australia’s top All-Time money list, behind Joe Hachem and Kahle Burns. Addamo is only 27, as well as a two-time WSOP bracelet winner
