But before going further, first, let's see what late position in poker means.
In a 9 or 10 handed game, the late position in poker is from the hijack seat to the player sitting at the dealer button. As the players in these positions are the last three players to act, it is the best possible poker position to be at.
Playing from this position is best because when your opponents, both from the early and middle position, bet or raise, you will have much of the information about their hands and their playing style. However, they do not have the same information about your hand.
How to play poker from a late position?
When you are in a late position, play your hand aggressively if the pot is short-handed except the blinds and when the rest of the opponents are playing loose. But, if you have a multi-way pot, you should play less aggressive unless you have a hand that plays strongly in a multi-way pot.
If you are the first player to enter the pot in a late position, you should play every hand as it is always worth a raise. This means that hands like AA, KK, QQ, JJ, AKs, TT, AQs, AJs, AK, KQs, JTs, 99, QJs, KJs, ATs, AQ, KQ, T9s, 88, QTs, 98s, J9s, AJ, KTs, 77, 87s, Q9s, T8s, KJ, QJ, JT, 76s, 97s, 65s, 66, AT, 55, 86s, KT, QT, 54S, K9s, J8s, 75s, 44, J9, 64s, T9, 53s, 33, 98, 43s, 22, T7s, and Q8s, possible even hands like 87, A9, Q9, 76, 42s, 32s, 96s, 85s, J8, J7s, 65, 54, 74s, K9, and T8.
You can also even play the worse hands if you believe your opponents are tight enough that have a chance to steal the blinds. When there are callers already, then only raise with hands like AA, KK, QQ, JJ, AKs, TT, AQs, AJs, KQs, AK, 99, JTs, QJs, KJs, ATs, AQ and sometimes also with T9s, KQ, 88, QTs, 98s, J9s, AJ, KTs hands.
Top poker tips
It is important to comprehend which poker table positions strategy and tips are crucial and how to take advantage of them. Here we will discuss our top late position poker tips.
Keep an eye for button steals:
The game of poker revolves around the blinds. Poker strategy would not work in the way we know today if there were no compulsory small and big blinds. The button is the most advantageous place to try and pick up the blinds. Professional players in this position raise their hand around 50% or more.
The players in this position are particularly interested when they notice that their opponents in blinds are not defending as often as they should. In late position, you can easily expand your button open-raising range in order to include any two cards if you see high folders in the blinds. Even if your opponents are not folding, don’t make the mistake of playing too tight from this position.

Change your gameplay as per the situation:
Even though you are in a late position, it is crucial to alter the game.
a) If you have a hand such as A-9 off-suit, you should fold most of the time when there are many opponents in the pot.
b) If none of your opponents has entered the pot, you can consider to bet, call, or raise with a wide range of hands.
c) When the tight player raises the pot, you must tighten your game and only enter the pot when you are making a play.
When you find out that your opponents are aggressively stealing, you should use re-stealing as a counter tactic. If your opponents are trying to steal the blinds, they will probably be open to re-steal attempts. Basically, a re-steal bet is a 3-bet (re-raise) against a player who is trying to steal the blinds. Obviously, without seeing the hole cards of your opponent you cannot guess whether they are trying to steal the blinds or they are holding a genuine premium hand.
As a result, any open-raise that is made from the cutoff, small blind, or button is referred to steal. As a general rule, we can effectively 3bet any two cards as a bluff if your opponent folds more than 65% of the time. This technique is particularly successful in the big blind when none of the opponents behind us is guaranteed a monster hand.

Aim for weaker players:
While you have an opportunity to play with a broader range of hands from a late position, the most obvious chance to extend even further from this position is when there are weaker players in the game. As we have discussed earlier, you must widen your open-raising button range when there are high folders players in the blinds. In the same way, if there are weaker players in the blinds, you can look to open-raise the button wider.
Such players often fold often pre-flop, but they would more than make up for it with the frequency and size of the post-flop mistakes they are expected to make. Obviously, this isn’t only the most effective way to target the weak players in this position. If they are open-limping, you can go for isolation raising (particularly for the button), hoping of inducing a heads-up pot against a weaker opponent.
Although the late position is one of the most advantageous positions, but by following the above-mentioned pro poker tips you can increase your winning opportunities. Play frequently when you are on it, be aggressive towards weak/tight players, stay vigilant and play smartly.
